What follows is the new event roster for the 2011 - 2012 Civil War and living history reenacting season.  You may use this event information any way you see fit, all I ask is that you give credit to the Florida Reenactors Online News Magazine web site.  Many hours have been spent compiling and confirming this information and I believe it to be accurate.  If you do find any mistakes, correct them on the copies that you distribute to your men and please send me a copy of the correction so I can update this event roster on the web site.  If you have any additional information pertaining to upcoming events that I have inadvertently omitted, contact me at the email address below.

Gamble Christmas.........There will be a Plantation Christmas event at the Gamble Mansion (Ellenton, Florida) on December 11, 2011 from 10:00 AM until 4:00 PM.  Early craft demonstrations, period sutlers, good food, live music.  Free tours of the Mansion and Patten House.  Sponsored by the United Daughters of the Confederacy, Florida Division, the Gamble Plantation Preservation Alliance and the Florida Park Service.  Both homes are lavishly decorated in the Christmas Spirit.  Located on Highway 301, 1.5 miles west of I-75 Exit #224 in Ellenton.  For info check their website at http://www.floridastateparks.org/gambleplantation/events.cfm?viewevent=7511#7511

January 20, 21, 22, 2012.  Brooksville Raid, Brooksville, Florida.  Hosted by the Hernando Historical Museum Assoc. and North Pinellas Scout Sertoma Club.  Your help is needed for the school day on Friday the 20th (over 1,200 students attended last year).  Two battles (2:30 PM); one Sat. one Sun.  Ladies tea will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday (the women put a lot into this tea and I have been told it is one of the best anywhere), Blue/Gray Ball Sat night at 8:00 PM.  Church service Sunday morning.  A $5.00 reenactor fee will be collected at the registration desk (13 years and under free).  Paid reenactors will receive a ticket for a $100.00 gift certificate (five to be given away) to be used at any of the sutlers in Sutlers Row during the event.  The winners will be announced at the Blue/Gray ball Saturday evening.  Cavalrymen - The Brooksville Raid will not give a cavalry bounty of any type.  Remember to bring your own hay for your horse - no hay will be on site.  All horses and mules are required to show current coggins papers at the registration desk before the horse is allowed on the property.  Any and all proceeds from this event are split evenly between North Pinellas Sertoma and the Heritage Museum.  Hot showers will be available Friday evening through Sunday, for a nominal fee.  Due to the incredible amount of artillery attending the Raid, the artillery bounty will be a little different this year.  One bounty per unit ($125) will be given to pre-registered cannons only.  Each cannon must participate in both battles to be eligible for the bounty.  Event work day will be held on January the 14th.  Your help is needed with the pre-event set up.  The Raid is held at the Sand Hill Boy Scout Camp on US Hwy 50.  The battle is 10 miles West of Brooksville.  The entrance is on Hwy 50.  Take Hwy. 50 West.  Go through Brooksville, keep going West about 10 miles, and look for the signs.  All sutlers contact Bob Burnett at loafersglorysut@aol.com  Artillery contact Bob Gomillion at bobgomillion@yahoo.com  Event web site http://www.brooksvilleraidreenactment.com/
 
January 27, 28, 29, 2012.  Road to Olustee Living History Weekend.  Camp Milton Historical Preserve, Jacksonville, FL.  Join us as we retrace the road to Olustee (three weeks before the big Olustee battle reenactment).  Confederate camps will be engaged in typical period activities pertaining to being a soldier while civilian reenactors will portray the town of Jacksonville going about daily life as they would have in February 1864.  Union troops will have the opportunity to raid, scout and advance on the Confederate fortifications.  Scripted scenarios will provide first person interpretation for reenactors and visitors alike.  Skirmish raids on Saturday and a battle on Sunday.  Full civilian town scenario with period sutlers integrated into the town.  School day Friday.  Dinner provided for dressed participants on Friday evening.  Cavalry and artillery by invitation only.  Firewood and hay provided.  Pre-registration is encouraged, participation will be limited to the first 100 Confederate soldiers, all others will be required to participate as Federal soldiers or civilians.  Total participation is limited so pre-register early.  Strict interpretive guidelines for all participants.  Please read the regulations for further details.  No reenactor fee.  All proceeds benefit historic preservation at Camp Milton.  Register after Oct. 15 at http://www.campmilton.com   Hosted by Jax Parks and the Golden Teacup Society.  For information, contact Shorty Robbins at shortyr@coj.net or find us on Facebook

January 27, 28, 29, 2012.  Battle of Bowlegs Creek.  Fort Meade, FL. Registration open Thursday Jan. 26th.  Friday is the Living History day and will run from 10 AM to 2:30 PM (volunteers are needed).  Battles will take place on Saturday and Sunday at 1:30 PM.  Ladies Tea and Saturday evening Military Ball.  Period camping, RV, and modern is available.  Restrooms, water and hay will also be available.  A $100 bounty per cannon is being offered to artillery units.  No reenactors fee, just a donation box at the registration table.  For more information contact David Hackel at 321-554-6570 or Priscilla Perry at the Historic Fort Meade Chamber of Commerce at 863-285-8253 email ftmeadechamber@yahoo.com or check their website at www.fortmeadechamber.com  Location: 1 1/2 miles east of down town Ft. February 3, 4, 5, 2012.    Battle at Townsend's Plantation (Renningers Market at Mt. Dora).  Sponsored by the law offices of Clay Townsend, Esq. and hosted by the 37th Alabama Co. H.  No reenactor participation fee.  Spectator fee $5 adults and $2 children.  Living history exhibits, folk music, weaponry demonstrations, authentic camps.  The ladies tea will be hosted by the women of the 37th Ala. Co. H.  Sun. church service, and sutlers.  Usual amenities.  Dress ball with 97th Regimental String Band Saturday at 8pm.  Full scale artillery, cavalry, and soldiers in period dress and weaponry.  Bounty paid for artillery.  Battle 3pm Saturday and 2pm Sunday.  This event is North of Orlando on Hwy 441 just a couple of miles from Mt. Dora at 20651 U.S. Hwy 441, Mt. February 3, 4, 5, 2012.  Battle of Okeechobee.  Second Seminole War event held on a portion of the original battlefield at the Okeechobee Battlefield Historic Park located at 3500 SE 38th Ave, Okeechobee, FL 34974.  Civil War reenactors are welcome to portray militia.  You will need a straw or felt hat - no kepis.  Lunch and dinner provided, powder ration, and door prizes (at Saturday evening program).  School day on Friday the 3rd.  Battles on Saturday and Sunday at 2:00 PM.  Authentic and modern camping areas.  Located 1/2 mile East of Taylor Creek on Hwy 441 SE.  Contact Dowling Watford at dowlingwatford@okechobeeford.com or check the event's facebook page or their web site at www.okeechobeebattlefield.com
 
February 10, 11, 12, 2012.  Key West, Florida.  Fort Zachary Taylor.  Three day living history event.  Re-enactors (first and third person), sutlers, and volunteers are welcome to participate.  Fort Taylor was a Union held fortress (one of three in Florida).  It served as headquarters for the Union Navy's East Gulf Coast Blockade Squadron.  Ft. Taylor has one of the largest collections of coast artillery in the country.  Primitive tent and dry RV camping is available.  The event features a parade down the world famous Duval Street to Fort Taylor, artillery and infantry demonstrations, period crafts, and land/sea battle, and a period ball.  No registration fee but sutlers need to call in advance.  Directions:  Take US 1 south to mile marker 0 and turn left on Southard Street.  Turn left and follow the signs to Ft. February 17, 18, 19, 2012.  The Battle of Olustee reenactment, parade and Living History.  Olustee Battlefield State Historic Site, Olustee, Florida.  Your help is needed with the school day programs on Friday, February 18.  The reenactment takes place on the actual site where the Battle of Olustee (Ocean Pond) was fought.  Visit with thousands of Civil War reenactors, tour the camps, see demonstrations of all types.  Best gathering of Civil War sutlers at any Civil War event with 80+ sutlers in attendance.  Friday is School Day.  Battles Saturday and Sunday.  Full scale artillery only.  The Olustee Battle Festival Parade will begin at 10:30 AM.  Reenactors are encouraged to participate.  Buses will transport reenactors to and from the parade site and will be served breakfast.  No pets.  Due to concerns for public safety, no fur bearing animals such as cats and dogs will be allowed during the reenactment activities.  This does not apply to horses.  Get there early.  The crowd gets big fast, sign-in and parking can be a hassle.  First time visitors and reenactors to the event should read the listing of activities at  http://battleofolustee.org/   The battlefield is located just fifteen miles east of Lake City on Hwy. 90 from I-75 and 50 miles west of Jacksonville.  Take I-75 to Hwy. 90 exit.  Go east on Hwy. 90.  Drive slow, the signs at the entrance for reenactors have been small and hard to see in the past.  Contact the Olustee Battlefield Historic Site at (386) 758-0400 or email olusteecso@yahoo.com
 
February 24, 25, 26, 2012.  The 97th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry Re-enactment Regiment, in cooperation with the Pinellas County Parks Department and Fort DeSoto Park , will host an American Civil War Weekend Encampment and Historical Battle Reenactment at the Fort DeSoto Park located in Tierra Verde on the Southern-most tip of Pinellas County , Florida .  Camps will be open FREE to the public from 10:00 AM  to 5:00 PM. each day. Participants will be depicting both Union and Confederate infantry, artillery, and civilian impressions. On Friday, February 24, the camps will be open for tours by elementary school children from surrounding counties. On Saturday and Sunday, camps will be open to the public with ongoing events all day, climaxing with a battle re-enactment each afternoon at 1:30 PM. Other civil war activities will include period sutlers and vendors, a mock military trial and execution, artillery demonstrations, infantry drills, Ladies Tea, and drum and fife music performances.  A limited number of re-enactor modern camping spaces will be available on a first contact, first served basis. Contact us for your reservation now because modern campers showing up on the day of the event without a reservation will not be allowed to camp. FREE firewood, hay for sleeping, and ice.  Infantry and artillery please pre-register.  A $50 cash bounty for the first 6, pre-registered artillery units, with a cannon (3 Union , 3 Confederate) and $10 cash bounty for the first 10, pre-registered mounted cavalry that attend the event. February 24, 25, 26, 2012.  Battle at Aiken.  Hosted by the Barnard E. Bee SCV Camp #1575 and Southern Guard Brigade.  This is a Hardee's Corps event.  Hardy's Brigade is encouraged to attend if at all possible.  Cavalry bounty $25 for the first 40 horses.  Artillery bounty $125 for the first 16 guns.  Largest Federal and Confederate unit $150.  Longest trip to event $150 (with a minimum of 10 soldiers).  Straw and water will be on site.  A reenactor fee of $5 pre-registration and a larger non-registration fee will be charged.  Check their website at http://www.battleofaiken.org/   For more information, contact Col. February 29, 2012 through March 4, 2012   Pioneer Park Days.  Zolfo Springs, FL. at the Pioneer Park.  This event will include Living History (Thursday through Saturday), reenactments (Saturday and Sunday), meet and talk with spectators and Confederate vendors.  Authentic camping is welcome and you can set up your camp on Wednesday through Friday night.  Free supper will be available for all reenactors on Friday and Saturday.  Sponsored by the Sons of Confederate Veterans, The United Daughters of the Confederacy and reenacting units (USA and CSA) of Southwest Florida.  The Pioneer Park is located at the intersection of Hwy 17 and SR 64 at 2822 Museum Drive, Zolfo Springs, FL. 33980.  Reenactors contact Tom Geffert at poniu1@aol.com

March 2, 3, 4, 2012.  The Battle of Natural Bridge.  Natural Bridge Battlefield State Historic Site (Florida).  Activities throughout the day including Civil War military drill and camp life in the Military Camp.  Civilian Camp will feature sewing, spinning, knitting, needlework, candle making, and other Soldier Aid Society activities.  A formal midmorning Ladies Tea will be held on Saturday.  A full military skirmish will be conducted on Saturday afternoon.  On Sunday, camps will be open to the public at 9:00 AM.  At approximately 1:00 PM, opening ceremonies will honor the combatants of the Battle of Natural Bridge which will immediately be followed by the Battle of Natural Bridge reenactment.  Directions: Drive south from Tallahassee for about eight miles to the community of Woodville.  As you reach the elementary school at the southern edge of Woodville, turn left onto Natural Bridge Road.  Travel approximately six miles east to the battlefield site.  Authentic soldiers and civilians contact Captain Chris Ellrich at cellrich@hotmail.com  Artillery by invitation only.  Authentic sutlers (by invitation only) contact John Boger at jboger@nbhscso.com  Please direct all other inquires to Bob Trapp at btrapp@nbhscso.com
 
March 9, 10, 11, 2012.  15th Annual Battle at Crystal River, FL.  NEW INFORMATION  This is a maximum effort Hardy's Brigade event.  The reenactment will be held once again at the Holcim, Inc. property site.  School and living history day is Friday, March 9th from 9:30 AM to 2:00 PM.  If you would like to participate in the Education and Living History Day activities contact Marcie Bruno at mandjbruno@webtv.net   All reenactors who help with school day will receive a free BBQ meal Friday night.  A registration fee of $5 per reenactor nine years old and up to be paid at the time of sign-in at the registration desk.  Wrist bands must be worn by all reenactors nine years old and up while on property.  No four wheelers allowed.  Authentic Civil War Era Sutlers only.  Civil War Battles take place at 2:00 PM Saturday and Sunday with pyrotechnic blasts for effects.  A ladies tea will be held Saturday morning.  There will be an 1860's dance Saturday night for reenactors and guests.  Sunday morning Church service in the barn for reenactors and the public.  Authentic camps for CSA and USA.  $125.00 per gun bounty paid for a total of 20 pre-registered artillery pieces.  Artillery registration snail mail to Bob Gomillion at 31431 Bugle Lane, Wesley Chapel, FL. 33543 bobgomillion@yahoo.com  No cannon live fire for cannon or muskets, however there will be a mortar live fire on Sunday morning.  No horse bounty of any type.  Cavalrymen bring your own hay.  Infantry hay, wood and water on site for authentic and modern camps.  Modern camping (no hook-ups) on site.  Directions: Seven miles northwest of Crystal River along US 19/98, site is on the west side of the road.  Site entrance signs will be on the highway.  From Dunnellon, take CR 448 west, turn north on US 19/98; or SR 40 west to Inglis, turn south on US 19/98.  From Orlando, take the Florida Turnpike north to I-75, exit at first exit at Wildwood (SR 44) to US 19, turn north to Crystal River and follow the signs.  As you pass over the railroad tracks, get in the left lane. go about a mile and turn left into the small one lane entrance road.  GPS position: N28.59.281 W082.38.889  Pre-registration forms for artillery and sutlers are online.   www.crystalriverreenactment.org  Snail mail to NCCWC, Inc, P.O. March 10, 2012 (SATURDAY ONLY 9 AM to 4 PM)  2nd Annual Civil War Show and Sale.  DeLand, Florida.  Daugherty Building at the Volusia County Fairgrounds.  Charitable fund-raising show featuring military, books, prints, photos, swords, relics, muskets, uniforms, and pre-1898 antique guns.  Due to insurance requirements no cartridges or black powder allowed in the show.  Free parking, free admission to anyone in complete period outfit.  Regular admission $5.00.  Operating sponsors of the show are the St. Johns Camp #1360 SCV and DeLand High School Air Force JROTC.  For information contact Dan Friend at dfriend001@cfl.rr.com  or www.delandcivilwarshow.com
 
March 24, 25, 2012.  Battle at Narcoossee Mill.  St. Cloud Fla. (southeast of Orlando - Kissimmee St. Cloud area.  Sponsored by the Jacob Summerlin Camp #1516 Sons of Confederate Veterans.  The Battlefield is on 150 acres of open and wooded land on the shore of  East Lake Tohopekaliga.  The event host will be checking coggins papers for horses at the registration desk.  A reenactor entrance fee of $5 per person will be collected at the registration desk.  A sutler fee of $30 will be charged to all sutlers.  Limited sutler electrical hook-ups are available for an additional fee.  Friday, the 25th, is education day which begins at 9:00am; re-enactors are needed to provide demonstrations.  A lunch will be provided for volunteers assisting with the school program.  There will be a ladies tea Saturday morning and military ball on Saturday night.  The park is located at 4700 Chisholm Park Trail, St. Cloud, Florida 34771.  Take Hwy 192 (Irlo Bronson Hwy) to Hwy 15.  Go 2mi North on Hwy 15, look for the park sign.  Another way to get there (from the North) is to take I-4 to the toll road 528 (Beachline Expressway) go east and get off on Hwy 15 exit (Narcoossee Road) go South on Hwy 15.  Another way if you are coming from the Florida Turnpike, get off at exit #244 and go east on Hwy 192 through St. Cloud, then turn North on Hwy 15 (Narcoossee Road).  GPS position: N28.16.448  W081.15.020  Contact the SCV Camp at http://www.jacobsummerlin.org/ or Don Williams at warthog1146@aol.com  More information, pre-registration http://www.jacobsummerlin.org/ed2007.pdf

April 13, 14, 15, 2012.  Annual Ladies Encampment at Ft. Clinch.  Sponsored by the Golden Teacup Society.  Join the ladies for a weekend of workshops, speakers and discussions geared towards expanding your knowledge, improving your impression and fellowshipping with the other ladies in the hobby.  Learn period techniques.  Talk with other historians.  Share research and information.  Listen to knowledgeable speakers.  Camp on site in authentic barracks.  Full registration details will be available in the Civilian Reenactor area at the Olustee event or contact Diane Gleason at bzquiltn@windstream.net.

April 19, 20, 21, 2012.  Panama City, FL.  The Saint Andrews Bay Salt Works Raid.  Organized by the Panama City Downtown Improvement Board and the U.S. Marine Guard, Steam Sloop of War USS Pawnee (The Kockritz Rifles Inc.) and supported by the National Civil War Naval Museum at Port Columbus (GA).  This event portrays the US Navy's and Marine Corps raids between the winter of 1861 and the spring of 1865 on the Southern Confederacy's largest salt works in the Saint Andrews Bay area and will represent typical amphibious raids conducted by Union Naval Forces along Florida's coast line.  The National Civil War Naval Museum will be providing the steam and oar powered launches for the amphibious landings.  There will be an amphibious landing with battle and salt work raid Saturday and Sunday afternoon.  Civilian and Confederate infantry reenactors (no cavalry or artillery permitted due to limited space) will portray the salt works and Saint Andrews home guard.  Reenactors will conduct close order drill demonstrations, salt works living history, Civil War amphibious landings, period camps, musket firing exercises, cutlass and boarding pike drills and more.  Pre-registration is required before March 1st.  Water, straw, firewood and portable sanitation facilities will be provided.  Reenactors contact Steve Fetherman at stevef9550@yahoo.com  Vendors and Sutlers contact Dutch Sanger at dsanger@pcdib.com  The public is invited, free parking, $1 adult, children - free admission.  Located at 430 W. 5th Street (Beach Front).
 
April 2012. (Date undecided)  NEW EVENT.  "The Enterprise Raid".  Lanochee in Paisley, FL.  This will be the season finale for reenacting in Florida.  Hosted by the Federal 4th Brigade www.fl4th.com and the Boy Scout Camp La-no-che.  Pre-registration (over 14 years old) through website.  A fee of $2 per-person, $8 per family max.  Walk-on fee of $3 per person and $10 per family.  All proceeds will go to the Boy Scout Camp.  Very nice site with plenty of room to grow.  Large open areas for camping and battles.  Bounty for the first 10 cannons (five Confederate and five Union).  Usual amenities - wood, water and hay for infantry.  Two main battles (one Saturday and one Sunday) with a possible tactical.  School day will be held on Friday the 8th.  Saturday will include a Ladies Tea and Evening Dance (in air-conditioned dining hall with shuttle service provided).  "Seven Pounds of Bacon" will provide the music.  Cavalry must show coggins papers.  Location: 41940 Boy Scout Road, Paisley, FL., 32767.  More information, contact Chuck Munson at cwchuck@earthlink.net or 352-669-0291.  Sutlers contact Ed Greenham at eddy@petticoatparlor.com or at 352-669-0291.  Their website is still under construction but is up and running  http://www.enterpriseraid.com

June 29, 30, July 1, 2012.  New Market Tennessee.  Battle of Mossy Creek.  Event to be held at the River Glen Equestrian Park in New Market, Tenn.  Nestled in the scenic mountains of Eastern Tenn. along the banks of the Holston River.  It is comprised of 200 acres of privately owned land.  The topography includes hills, woodlands, pastures and river bottom.  Amenities includes the use of stalls for the horses, plenty of water, hay and straw, firewood.  Bounty of $150 for the first four full scale cannons.  Bounty of $100 if they are mountain howitzers.  We only need four cannons total.  Reenactor $5 pre-registration fee - $10 after May 1st.  Sutlers fee, $50.  As a matter of policy, the DET will be giving 10% of its proceeds to various Civil War organizations at the events we host.  Pre-registration rosters and payment should be directed to: River Glen Equestrian Park, 1839 London Rd., New Market, TN 37820, Attention: Bill Graves.  Please do not hesitate to contact Bill should you have any questions.  Web site is located at http://www.river-glen.com/
