What follows is the new event roster for the 2009 - 2010 Civil War and living history reenacting season.  You may use this event information any way you see fit, all I ask is that you give credit to the Florida Reenactors Online News Magazine web site.  Many hours have been spent compiling and confirming this information and I believe it to be accurate.  If you do find any mistakes, correct them on the copies that you distribute to your men and please send me a copy of the correction so I can update this event roster on the web site.  If you have any additional information pertaining to upcoming events that I have inadvertently omitted, contact me at the email address below.

March 5, 6, 7, 2010.  The Annual Pioneer Parks Day Celebration - (Friday afternoon set up and SCV cookout - the event will take place all day Saturday and Sunday).  The Pioneer Park is located in beautiful Zolfo Springs (about 70 miles south of Orlando) along the Peace River.  This event is sponsored by the Sons of Confederate Veterans Gen. Twiggs Camp #1462.  The park celebration attracts at least 100,000 spectators and includes all time lines of re-enactors, antique gas engines, antique cars, antique tractors, food vendors and a huge 400 "table" flea market that offers something for everyone.  Their living history committee will also recognize the many fine re-enacting units throughout Florida with cash prizes and trophies (1st place-$100 and trophy, 2nd place- $50 and trophy, 3rd place-$25 and trophy).  An additional award will be given to the best Federal unit or CSA unit that galvanizes).  Send your vote to Robert Lloyd's email address robertlloydmusic@cs.com   All impressions are welcome.  Infantry, artillery and cavalry both USA, CSA and period correct civilians are invited.  If enough re-enactors attend, there may be a very small skirmish.  The park is located on the corner of State Road 64 and Highway 17.  If you would like to attend and reserve an area for your re-enacting unit, contact Robert Lloyd at robertlloydmusic@cs.com
 
March 5, 6, 7, 2010.  144th Anniversary of the Battle of Natural Bridge (33 reenactment) - Woodville, Fla. (Near Tallahassee) Sponsored by the Leon Rifles, Florida Park Service and The Natural Bridge Historical Society.  Battles both days/ very relaxed event. No participant fees.  Hay and firewood available.  There will be a great dance Saturday night.  Sunday's opening ceremonies at 1:30 p.m. The battle begins 2:30 p.m. no fees.   This reenactment of the 144th Anniversary of the 1865 Civil War battle which defeated the Union takeover of Tallahassee, the only Confederate capital east of the Mississippi which didn't fall into Union hands. It is fought on the actual battlefield. The state has acquired more land and we are hopeful it will be ready for use this year.  Encampments are open to the public from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. Sutlers and artillery by invitation only. The parking area next to the event site is being expanded to visitors for the 2010 event.  As a reminder, camp fires are strictly regulated at the Natural Bridge Battlefield Historic State Park.  We need Yankees!  Sorry but the small battlefield makes it necessary to exclude mounted cavalrymen.  Artillery is by invitation only.  Military contact is Mark Rominger at m_rominger@yahoo.com  and Chris Ellrich at cellrich@hotmail.com   Sutlers contact John Boger at 386-963-3654.  Directions: Natural Bridge Battlefield Historic State Park is located six miles east of Woodville, off S.R. 363 (Woodville Highway) on Natural Bridge Road. March 14, 2010.  Spring Encampment at the Gamble Plantation Historic State Park (8:00 AM to 4:30 PM).  Period correct guides will take you on a tour of the plantation.  You may also visit the Confederate camp on the front lawn.  Other activities include period correct music, blacksmithing and 19th century gardening.  Check the park's website at www.floridastateparks.org/gambleplantation or call 941-723-4536.  The park is located in Ellenton, FL, off I-75, just north of Bradenton. 
 
March 12, 13, 14, 2010.  13th Annual Battle at Crystal River, FL.  This is a maximum effort Hardy's Brigade event.  Sponsored by the Nature Coast Civil War Reenactment Committee, Inc.  The reenactment will be held once again at the Holcim, Inc. property site.  Powder ration for all pre-registered artillery pieces.  Due to statewide FCAT testing and the economic cutbacks within the school system, there will not be a school day this year.  A registration fee of $2 per reenactor nine years old and up to be paid at the time of sign-in at the registration desk.  Medallions must be worn by all reenactors nine years old and up while on property.  No four wheelers on battlefield or outside of modern camp.  Authentic Civil War Era Sutlers only.  Sutlers, please contact Bill and Diane Micklon at trechuck@tampabay.rr.com for specifics.  Live fire cannon demonstration will be held during the weekend as well as live fire musket competition and mortar contest.  Contact Ray Smutko at ray1861@earthlink.net for more information on these activities.  Civil War Battles take place at 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, with pyrotechnic blasts for effects, including an exploding house.  A ladies tea will be held Saturday morning.  There will be an 1860's dance for reenactors and guests featuring the 97th PA. Regimental String Band on Saturday night.  Sunday morning Church service in the barn.  Authentic camps for CSA and USA.  Hay, wood and water on site for authentic and modern camps.  Modern camping (no hook-ups) on site.  Directions: Seven miles northwest of Crystal River along US 19/98, site is on the west side of the road.  Site entrance signs will be on the highway.  From Dunnellon, take CR 448 west, turn north on US 19/98; or SR 40 west to Inglis, turn south on US 19/98.  From Orlando, take the Florida Turnpike north to I-75, exit at first exit at Wildwood (SR 44) to US 19, turn north to Crystal River and follow the signs.  As you pass over the railroad tracks, get in the left lane. go about a mile and turn left into the small one lane entrance road.  GPS position: N28.59.281 W082.38.889  Pre-registration forms for artillery and sutlers are online, others need not pre-register.  www.crystalriverreenactment.org  Snail mail correspondence to NCCWC, Inc, P.O. March 26, 27, 28, 2010.  The 17th annual Battle at Narcoossee Mill.  St. Cloud Fla. southeast of Orlando by Kissimmee.  Sponsored by the Jacob Summerlin Camp #1516 Sons of Confederate Veterans.  The Battlefield is on 150 acres of open and wooded land on the shore of  East Lake Tohopekaliga.  The event host will be checking coggins papers for horses at the registration desk.  A reenactor entrance fee of $3 per person will be collected at the registration desk.  A sutler fee of $25 will be charged to all sutlers.  Limited sutler electrical hook-ups are available for an additional fee.  Friday, the 27th, is education day which begins at 9:00am; re-enactors are needed to provide demonstrations.  A lunch will be provided for volunteers assisting with the school program.  There will be a ladies tea Saturday morning and military ball on Saturday night.  The park is located at 4700 Chisholm Park Trail, St. Cloud, Florida 34771.  Take Hwy 192 (Irlo Bronson Hwy) to Hwy 15.  Go 2mi North on Hwy 15, look for the park sign.  Another way to get there (from the North) is to take I-4 to the toll road 528 (Beachline Expressway) go east and get off on Hwy 15 exit (Narcoossee Road) go South on Hwy 15.  Another way if you are coming from the Florida Turnpike, get off at exit #244 and go east on Hwy 192 through St. Cloud, then turn North on Hwy 15 (Narcoossee Road).  GPS position: N28.16.448  W081.15.020  Contact the SCV Camp at http://www.jacobsummerlin.org/ or Don Williams at warthog1146@aol.com  More information, pre-registration http://www.jacobsummerlin.org/ed2007.pdf  

April 16, 17, 18, 2010.  Port Columbus, Georgia.  Sponsored by the 7th FL. Co. B. (Straw Hats) a.k.a. US Marine Guard of the Steam Sloop USS Pawnee.  This event takes place at The National Civil War Naval Museum at Port Columbus, Georgia.  Authentic camping is allowed behind the museum along the Chattahoochee River.  The museum will provide heads, hay, and wood.  There will be a $5 registration fee to provide for logistics and free access to the museum and a discount on Naval clothing and equipment.  They have coordinated with the museum's Executive Director to have their staff conduct and certify participants as crewmen on a 15,000 pound, 7 inch Brooke Naval Rifle.  This is an unusual reenacting experience, to be able to crew and fire a weapon of this size and caliber.  A blank shot takes four pounds of gunpowder.  In addition, the museum and the Marines and sailors of the Pawnee and Fort Henry will receive training on amphibious landings on the Chattahoochee River using the museum's 24-foot six oar launch.  The museum has constructed a full size replica of the USS/CSS Water Witch.  This year the Water Witch will be recommissioned as a Confederate man-of-war.  They would desire Marines and sailors, both North and South; to attend the event and participate in the training however, that is not a requirement.  This event may be called a school for the Marine and Sailor.  More information can be found at http://www.portcolumbus.org/

April 24, 25, 2010.  Pensacola Lighthouse Day.  Living history event.  This is a weekend event.  Period correct camping on site.  All military and civilian reenactors are welcome.  Musicians, craftsmen and artisans who specialize in historically accurate methods are also invited.  For more information contact pensacolalighthouse@gmail.com Their primary focus is the time period from 1821 to present.

May 15, 16, 2010.  Parrish Train Raid (southwest Florida).  The Parrish Train Raid is definitely a one of  a kind event.  This a small event with two short battles per day, one at 11am and one at 2pm.  Well, not really battles but attacks on the train as it passes.  The train stops and is boarded by the Federals or Confederates and "captured" or the attackers are driven off by the soldiers on the train.  Reenactors in period dress will be allowed to ride the train free.  There will be time to interact with the public both on and off the train if you like.  Artillery, Cavalry, Infantry and civilians are invited.  Confederates will camp to the north near the wood line and Federals to the south near the wood line (firewood and water will be provided).  Driving directions: Follow I-275 south until it hits I-75.  Parrish is easy to find.  From south Fla. take I-75 north to Ellenton like you are going to Gamble Plantation. Instead of turning to the west, turn east on Hwy 301 to the town of Parrish.  From Lakeland, go south on Highway 37 (It dead ends in to Highway 62).  Turn west or right on Highway 62 toward Parrish.  When you hit Highway 301, turn right and immediately right into the Post Office.  The train stop is right behind the Post Office.  From Orlando, come Highway 17 south to just south of Bowling Green.  Turn west on Highway 62 and take it all the way to 301. June 25, 2010 - 7:30 PM to 11:30 PM.  You are invited to join the South Florida Youth Reenactors in their fifth annual Blue and Gray Ball which will take place at the South County Civic Center, 16700 Jog Rd. Delray Beach, FL. 33446.  You can dance all your favorites:Virginia Reel, Patty Cake Polka, Broom Dance, Carolina Promenade, and plenty of waltzes and polkas.  Music to be performed by a live band.  All Federal, Confederate and Civilian reenactors are welcome to attend.  Punch, Hors d' Oeuvres and dessert will be served.  The cost for tickets purchased before May 25, 2010 are: Adult $12, Children (ages 5-12) $5, and children under 5 are free.  The price for tickets purchased at the door will be: Adults $15, Children (ages 5-12) $7.  Information: contact Julia Portella at sfyreenactors@gmail.com

November 5, 6, 7, 2010.  26th Annual Ocklawaha River Raid.  NOTICE: NEW LOCATION.  The event will now take place at the Carriage Museum located at 3000 Marion County Road, Wiersdale, FL. 32195.  This re-enactment is hosted by the 4th Florida Infantry, Company G., 2nd Battalion, Hardy's Brigade.  This event commemorates the March 1865 Union army raid on plantations east of Ocala in Marion County and the resulting skirmish with local Confederate forces near the Ocklawaha River.  All branches of service and civilian reenactors are invited and welcomed.  Powder rations will be provided to the first eight cannons pre-registered by October 25.  Hay rations will be provided for all horses pre-registered by October 25.  Firewood and water provided on site.  Sutlers are requested to pre-register; for registration details contact the host unit at the address shown below.  The weekend will include two battles, a replica period homestead, numerous Living History events, civilian activities including a Ladies' Tea and a Saturday night ball.  The event has a new website located at  www.ocklawahariverraid.com    For more information, contact Lt. November 19, 20, 21, 2010.  Raid On The Suwannee River.  Live Oak, Florida.  Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park.  New Re-enactment.   Maximum Effort Hardee Corps Event.  Usual amenities, plus RV hook-ups (electric and water - no sewer) and cabin rentals.  General store, restaurant, and showers on site.  Battlefield clear of modern intrusions.  Original Confederate earthworks nearby.  This park offers everything a camper could ask for.  Way too much to list here.  Special cavalry information:  Cavalrymen make sure you read all the items about mounted cavalry.  There are some different cavalry requirements at this event.  When you arrive at registration with your horse, you will have to pay a $25 per horse refundable barn stall fee.  At the end of the event (Sunday) if your stall is cleaned, your $25 fee will be refunded.  No picket lines are allowed and all horses must be kept in their barn.  There will be a $15 bounty paid for each horse used in the battles.  All reenactors must pre-register through the US Mail.  A special website has been set up for the Suwannee Raid.  You can print out registration forms and find out a lot more about this event at http://www.floridareenactorsonline.com/SuwanneeIndex.htm  Check out the Park's website for additional details at http://www.musicliveshere.com/  Directions: From I-10, take exit #283 and go north on US 129 for 4.5 miles.  From I-75, take exit #451 and go south for 4.5 miles.  Look for the signs - "Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park".  The park is located between I-10 and I-75.  The park's address is 3076 95th Drive, Live Oak, Florida 32060.
