What follows is the new event roster for the 2010 - 2011 Civil War and living history reenacting season.  You may use this event information any way you see fit, all I ask is that you give credit to the Florida Reenactors Online News Magazine web site.  Many hours have been spent compiling and confirming this information and I believe it to be accurate.  If you do find any mistakes, correct them on the copies that you distribute to your men and please send me a copy of the correction so I can update this event roster on the web site.  If you have any additional information pertaining to upcoming events that I have inadvertently omitted, contact me at the email address below.

May 15, 16, 2010.  Parrish Train Raid (southwest Florida).  The Parrish Train Raid is definitely a one of a kind event.  This a small event with two short battles per day, one at 11am and one at 2pm.  Well, not really battles but attacks on the train as it passes.  The train stops and is boarded by the Federals or Confederates and "captured" or the attackers are driven off by the soldiers on the train.  Reenactors in period dress will be allowed to ride the train free.  There will be time to interact with the public both on and off the train if you like.  Artillery, Cavalry, Infantry and civilians are invited.  Confederates will camp to the north near the wood line and Federals to the south near the wood line (firewood and water will be provided).  Driving directions: Follow I-275 south until it hits I-75.  Parrish is easy to find.  From south Fla., take I-75 north to Ellenton like you are going to Gamble Plantation. Instead of turning to the west, turn east on Hwy 301 to the town of Parrish.  From Lakeland, go south on Highway 37 (It dead ends in to Highway 62).  Turn west or right on Highway 62 toward Parrish.  When you hit Highway 301, turn right and immediately right into the Post Office.  The train stop is right behind the Post Office.  From Orlando, come Highway 17 south to just south of Bowling Green.  Turn west on Highway 62 and take it all the way to 301. June 25, 2010 - 7:30 PM to 11:30 PM.  You are invited to join the South Florida Youth Reenactors in their fifth annual Blue and Gray Ball which will take place at the South County Civic Center, 16700 Jog Rd. Delray Beach, FL. 33446.  You can dance all your favorites:  Virginia Reel, Patty Cake Polka, Broom Dance, Carolina Promenade, and plenty of waltzes and polkas.  Music to be performed by a live band.  All Federal, Confederate and Civilian reenactors are welcome to attend.  Punch, Hors d' Oeuvres and dessert will be served.  The cost for tickets purchased before May 25, 2010 are: Adult $12, Children (ages 5-12) $5, and children under 5 are free.  The price for tickets purchased at the door will be: Adults $15, Children (ages 5-12) $7.  Information: contact Julia Portella at sfyreenactors@gmail.com

October 2, 3, 2010.  Hillsborough River Raid at Veteran's Memorial Park (Tampa).  The original battle took place at Ballast Point, Tampa.  Sponsored by the Hillsborough County Parks, and hosted by the USS Fort Henry.  No fee for reenactors.  Reenactors may arrive Friday, Oct. 1st after 9:00 AM and can stay overnight in period tents.  Battles with amphibious landings (like the original battle) by Federal troops will take place at 2:30PM Saturday and Sunday.  Park hours for the public are 10:00 AM to 5:30PM, Museum hours (Sat. and Sun.) 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM As the original battle was a US Navy raid against the CS Home Guard and several CS boatmen were involved, we encourage US and CS Navy reenactors to participate as well as army/home guard reenactors.  Free Saturday evening meal for reenactors.  Due to the size of the site, we cannot allow any mounted troops.  Small Sutlers fee (payable to "Friends of the Park Inc."-contact Jesse).  Artillery is limited, contact Lew for registration.  Directions: Off US-301, about one mile south of the Florida State Fairgrounds.  Located at 3602 N. October 1, 2, 3, 2010.  Andersonville, Georgia.  Saturday and Sunday battles.  This is a nice little battle for spectators and reenactors alike.  There is plenty to see and do in addition to the battles.  About 100 yards from the battlefield is the small town of Andersonville where you will find five interesting antique, craft, curiosity shops and The Drummer Boy Museum on Main St.  The Wirz Monument stands in the center of the small town.  The huge Andersonville Civil War prison camp and The Prisoner of War Museum are a very short drive away.  Contact email address is andersonvillega@msn.com  Visit their website at http://www.andersonvillegeorgia.com/   Driving directions: Just off Georgia Hwy 49 between Americus and Oglethorpe and is some 21 miles northeast of Plains.
 
October 9, 10, 2010.  Confederate Garrison at Fort Clinch.  Early war impression, civilian and or militia uniforms encouraged.  Saturday night candlelight tour of the fort.  Meals provided for a fee to cover the cost (aprox. $10 to $15).  Very limited accommodations for women.  Women attending are asked to have a function in living history presentations.  Females should contact the Park Service website for camping sites in the park.  This is an early war event with civilian clothes or militia uniforms welcomed.  Sponsored by the Florida Battalion.  All units are welcome.  Interested units and individuals contact Lt. November 5, 6, 7, 2010.  26th Annual Ocklawaha River Raid.  NOTICE: NEW LOCATION.  The event will now take place at the Carriage Museum located at 3000 Marion County Road, Wiersdale, FL. 32195.  This re-enactment is hosted by the 4th Florida Infantry, Company G., 2nd Battalion, Hardy's Brigade.  This event commemorates the March 1865 Union army raid on plantations east of Ocala in Marion County and the resulting skirmish with local Confederate forces near the Ocklawaha River.  All branches of service and civilian reenactors are invited and welcomed.  Powder rations will be provided to the first eight cannons pre-registered by October 25.   Firewood and water provided on site.  Sutlers are requested to pre-register; for registration details contact the host unit at the address shown below.  The weekend will include two battles, a replica period homestead, numerous Living History events, civilian activities including a Ladies' Tea and a Saturday night ball.  The event has a new website located at  www.ocklawahariverraid.com    For more information, contact Lt. November 12, 13, 2010.  History Time Line.  Brooksville, FL.  The Hernando Preservation Society will present "Where History Lives" in downtown Brooksville.  The event will honor our veterans of all wars starting from the Seminole war through present day.  There will be a parade, living history demonstrations, fashion shows, a ladies tea, museum tours, bus tours of Brooksville's historic homes, reenactments, and art gallery openings with war memorabilia from all eras.  Friday will be their education day for students.  Throughout the year they are planning to  provide a forum for those interested in the history of the present Hernando County and "Old Hernando County" which consisted of Pasco, Hernando and Citrus counties.  They will also promote educating the public through meetings, educational seminars, lectures, media presentations and tours.  Information contact: Jan Knowles at janknowles@earthlink.net or check the museum's web page at www.hernandohistoricalmuseumassoc.com
 
November 13, 2010. (Saturday only-10am to 2pm).  Dade Historic Reenactor Swap Meet.  Bushnell, Florida.  Dade Lodge, Dade Battlefield Park (7200 CR 603 South Battlefield Drive, Bushnell, Florida 33513).  Buy, Sell, Trade.  Bring your pre-1880 items including muzzle loading firearms, knives, clothing, accoutrements, and other items or replicas thereof.  No modern guns or ammunition.  No WW I through Desert Storm surplus, plaster figures or T-shirts, or other inappropriate items.  No commercial traders or sutlers.  Rent a 8 foot table for $10; over 15 tables available (reserve early).  Driving directions: Located off I-75, exit 314, west of U.S. 301.  For more information, call John DeLancett at (407)-644-8253.
 
November 19, 20, 21, 2010.  Raid On The Suwannee River.  Live Oak, Florida.  Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park.  New Re-enactment.   Maximum Effort Hardee Corps Event.  Usual amenities, plus RV hook-ups (electric and water - no sewer) and cabin rentals.  General store, restaurant, and showers on site.  Battlefield clear of modern intrusions.  Original Confederate earthworks nearby.  This park offers everything a camper could ask for.  Way too much to list here.  Special cavalry information:  Cavalrymen make sure you read all the items about mounted cavalry.  There are some different cavalry requirements at this event.  When you arrive at registration with your horse, you will have to pay a $25 per horse refundable barn stall fee.  At the end of the event (Sunday) if your stall is cleaned, your $25 fee will be refunded.  No picket lines are allowed and all horses must be kept in their barn.  This year the Suwannee River Raid will not give a cavalry bounty of any type.  Remember to bring your own hay for your horse - no hay will be on site.  All reenactors must pre-register through the US Mail.  A special website has been set up for the Suwannee Raid.  You can print out registration forms and find out a lot more about this event at http://www.floridareenactorsonline.com/SuwanneeIndex.htm  Check out the Park's website for additional details at  http://www.musicliveshere.com/content/index.php   Directions: From I-10, take exit #283 and go north on US 129 for 4.5 miles.  From I-75, take exit #451 and go south for 4.5 miles.  Look for the signs - "Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park".  The park is located between I-10 and I-75.  The park's address is 3076 95th Drive, Live Oak, Florida 32060.
 
December 3, 4, 5, 2010.  Dade City Battle.  NEW DATE.  Pioneer Florida Museum and Village.  The battlefield has been moved to the large field behind the museum.  Plenty of room for camps away from the modern vendors.  Great viewing areas for spectators.  Saturday 11:00 AM at the church building Sgt. December 3, 4, 5, 2010.  The 9th annual "Raid on Fort Pierce" (east coast of Florida).  Hosted by the 8th Florida Co. January 14, 15, 16, 2011.  Brooksville Raid, Brooksville, Florida.  Hosted by the Hernando Historical Museum Assoc. and North Pinellas Scout Sertoma Club.  Your help is needed for the school day on Friday the 14th (over 1,200 students attended last year).  Two battles (2:30PM); one Sat. one Sun.  Ladies tea will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday (the women put a lot into this tea and I have been told it is one of the best anywhere), Blue/Gray Ball Sat night at 8:00 PM, church Sun. morning.  A $5.00 reenactor fee will be collected at the registration desk (max. $20 per family).  All reenactors will receive a raffle ticket upon registering for a $100.00 gift certificate (five to be given away) to be used at any of the sutlers in Sutlers Row during the event (certificate good for two years).  The winners will be announced at the ball Saturday evening.  Cavalrymen - This year the Brooksville Raid will not give a cavalry bounty of any type.  Remember to bring your own hay for your horse - no hay will be on site.  All horses and mules are required to show current coggins papers at the registration desk before the horse is allowed on the property.  Any and all proceeds from this event are split evenly between North Pinellas Sertoma and the Heritage Museum.  Meals and hot showers will be available Friday evening through Sunday, for a nominal fee.  Due to the incredible amount of artillery attending the Raid, the artillery bounty will be a little different this year.  One bounty per unit ($100) will be given to the first twenty pre-registered cannons only.  Each cannon must participate in both battles to be eligible for the bounty.  Event work day will be held on January the 8th.  Your help is needed with the pre-event set up.  The Raid is held at the Sand Hill Boy Scout Camp on US Hwy 50.  The battle is 10 miles West of Brooksville.  The entrance is on Hwy 50.  Take Hwy. 50 West.  Go through Brooksville, keep going West about 10 miles, and look for the signs.  Web site http://www.brooksvilleraidreenactment.com/
 
February 4, 5, 6, 2011.  Battle at Townsend's Plantation (Renningers Market at Mt. Dora).  Sponsored by the law offices of Clay Townsend, Esq. and hosted by the 37th Alabama Co. H.  No reenactor participation fee.  Spectator fee $5 adults and $2 children.  Living history exhibits, folk music, weaponry demonstrations, authentic camps.  The ladies tea will be hosted by the women of the 37th Ala. Co. H.  Sun. church service, and sutlers.  Usual amenities.  Dress ball with 97th Regimental String Band Saturday at 8pm.  Full scale artillery, cavalry, and soldiers in period dress and weaponry.  Bounty paid for artillery.  There will be no cavalry bounty.  Battle 3pm Saturday and 2pm Sunday.  This event is North of Orlando on Hwy 441 just a couple of miles from Mt. Dora at 20651 U.S. Hwy 441, Mt. February 4, 5, 6, 2011.  Road to Olustee Living History Weekend.  Camp Milton Historical Preserve, Jacksonville, FL.  Join us as we retrace the road to Olustee (two weeks before the big Olustee battle reenactment).  Confederate camps will be engaged in typical period activities pertaining to being a soldier while civilian reenactors will portray the town of Jacksonville going about daily life as they would have in February 1864.  Union troops will have the opportunity to raid, scout and advance on the Confederate fortifications.  Scripted scenarios will provide first person interpretation for reenactors and visitors alike.  Skirmish raids on Saturday and a battle on Sunday.  Full civilian town scenario with period sutlers integrated into the town.  School day Friday.  Dinner provided for dressed participants on Friday evening.  Cavalry and artillery by invitation only.  Firewood and hay provided.  Pre-registration is encouraged, participation will be limited to the first 100 Confederate soldiers, all others will be required to participate as Federal soldiers or civilians.  Total participation is limited so pre-register early.  Strict interpretive guidelines for all participants.  Please read the regulations for further details.  No reenactor fee.  All proceeds benefit historic preservation at Camp Milton.  Register after Oct. 15 at http://www.campmilton.com   Hosted by JaxParks and the Golden Teacup Society.  For more information, contact Shorty Robbins at shorty@coj.net or find us on Facebook

February 18, 19, 20, 2011.  The Battle of Olustee reenactment, parade and Living History.  Olustee Battlefield State Historic Site, Olustee, Florida.  Your help is needed with the school day programs on Friday, February 18.  The reenactment takes place on the actual site where the Battle of Olustee (Ocean Pond) was fought.  Visit with thousands of Civil War reenactors, tour the camps, see demonstrations of all types.  Best gathering of Civil War sutlers at any Civil War event with 80+ sutlers in attendance.  Friday is School Day.  Battles Saturday and Sunday.  Full scale artillery only.  The Olustee Battle Festival Parade will begin at 10:30 AM.  Reenactors are encouraged to participate.  Buses will transport reenactors to and from the parade site and will be served breakfast.  No pets.  Due to concerns for public safety, no fur bearing animals such as cats and dogs will be allowed during the reenactment activities.  This does not apply to horses.  Get there early.  The crowd gets big fast, sign-in and parking can be a hassle.  First time visitors and reenactors to the event should read the listing of activities at  http://battleofolustee.org/   The battlefield is located just fifteen miles east of Lake City on Hwy. 90 from I-75 and 50 miles west of Jacksonville.  Take I-75 to Hwy. 90 exit.  Go east on Hwy. 90.  Drive slow, the signs at the entrance for reenactors have been small and hard to see in the past.  Contact the Olustee Battlefield Historic Site at (386) 758-0400 or email olusteecso@yahoo.com
 
February 25, 26, 27, 2011.  Battle at Aiken.  Hosted by the Barnard E. Bee SCV Camp #1575 and Southern Guard Brigade.  This is a Hardee's Corps event.  Hardy's Brigade is encouraged to attend if at all possible.  Cavalry bounty $25 for the first 40 horses.  Artillery bounty $125 for the first 16 guns.  Largest Federal and Confederate unit $150.  Longest trip to event $150 (with a minimum of 10 soldiers).  Straw and water will be on site.  A reenactor fee of $5 pre-registration and a larger non-registration fee will be charged.  Check their website at http://www.battleofaiken.org/   For more information, contact Col. February 18, 2011.  The Battle of Lake City.  The 1st Georgia Regulars will host the event.  It will take place at 5:00 PM. near the south-west corner of the lake behind the Columbia Co. courthouse.  Federal infantrymen are always needed.  There will be memorial services at Oaklawn Cemetery starting at 9:00 AM (on the 18th).  The Blue/Gray Army Inc., the SCV, and the UDC all have ceremonies starting at the same time and date.  Driving directions: from hwy 90, go west from Marion St (441) one block to Columbia St, turn right, go 3 blocks turn right. and proceed several blocks to lake. Turn right. to SW  corner of lake. There will be a bus at the Olustee battlefield entrance at 3 pm (the bus will leave at 3:30) to transport reenactors. February 24, 25, 26, 27, 2011.  The 97th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry Re-enactment Regiment, in cooperation with the Pinellas County Parks Department and Fort DeSoto Park, will host an American Civil War Weekend Encampment and Historical Battle Reenactment at the Fort DeSoto Park located in Tierra Verde on the Southern-most tip of Pinellas County, Florida.  Camps will be open FREE to the public from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. each day. Participants will be depicting both Union and Confederate infantry, artillery, cavalry (limited), and civilian impressions. On Friday, February 25, the camps will be open for tours by elementary school children from surrounding counties. On Saturday and Sunday, camps will be open to the public with ongoing events all day, climaxing with a battle re-enactment each afternoon at 1:30 PM. Other civil war activities will include period sutlers and vendors, a mock military trial and execution, artillery demonstrations, infantry drills, 'ladies afternoon tea', drum and fife music performances and civil war medical demonstrations. A limited number of re-enactor modern camping spaces will be available on a first contact, first served basis. Contact us for your reservation now because modern campers showing up on the day of the event without a reservation will not be allowed to camp. FREE firewood, hay for sleeping, and ice.  Infantry and artillery please pre-register.  A $50 cash bounty for the first 6, pre-registered artillery units, with a cannon (3 Union, 3 Confederate) and $10 cash bounty for the first 10, pre-registered mounted cavalry that attend the event. February 25, 26, 27, 2011.  Civil War Heritage Days.  Key West Florida.  Fort Taylor was a Union held fortress (one of three in Florida).  It served as headquarters for the Union Navy's East Gulf Coast Blockade Squadron.  The event features a parade down the world famous Duval Street to Fort Taylor, artillery and infantry demonstrations, period crafts, a land/sea battle, and a period ball.  New on this year's schedule; a court trial of a captured blockade runner and a skirmish on the beach.  Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park is the site of the best beach on Key West.  Portrayal of life in the Keys in the mid 1800's.  No registration fee but sutlers need to call in advance.  Ft. March 4, 5, 6, 2011.  The Battle of Natural Bridge.  Natural Bridge Battlefield State Historic Site (Florida).  Activities throughout the day including Civil War military drill and camp life in the Military Camp.  Civilian Camp will feature sewing, spinning, knitting, needlework, candle making, and other Soldier Aid Society activities.  A formal midmorning Ladies Tea will be held on Saturday.  A full military skirmish will be conducted on Saturday afternoon.  On Sunday, camps will be open to the public at 9:00 AM.  At approximately 1:00 PM, opening ceremonies will honor the combatants of the Battle of Natural Bridge which will immediately be followed by the Battle of Natural Bridge reenactment.  Directions: Drive south from Tallahassee for about eight miles to the community of Woodville.  As you reach the elementary school at the southern edge of Woodville, turn left onto Natural Bridge Road.  Travel approximately six miles east to the battlefield site.  Authentic soldiers and civilians contact Captain Chris Ellrich at cellrich@hotmail.com  Artillery by invitation only.  Authentic sutlers (by invitation only) contact John Boger at jboger@nbhscso.com  Please direct all other inquires to Bob Trapp at btrapp@nbhscso.com

March 12, 13, 2011.  River Blast - Columbus Georgia.  This is a Naval Reenactors training and Living History event held at the National Civil War Naval Museum, however non-Naval reenactors are welcome and encouraged to attend.  There will be a small skirmish between sailors, Marines, and soldiers demonstrating tactics.  The focus of the event is to train reenactors to crew and fire a real Confederate 7" Brooke Naval Rifle (It weighs in at 22,000 pounds).  This is the only known real Brooke Rifle that is fired today (powder only) and will be crewed by reenactors.  The gun was part of the battery of the ironclad CSS Jackson.   During the Civil War Confederate infantry units manned Brookes Rifles along the Mississippi River, Fort Morgan on Mobile Bay and Fort Fisher at the mouth of the Cape Fear River in North Carolina.  Union Heavy Artillery units also manned similar weapons in fortifications around Washington DC and points throughout the South.  You can participate in training classes using boarding pikes, cutlass and landing party drill and tactics.  The museum features a reproduction steam and oar cutter, the remains of the CSS Jackson (one of the larger Ironclads built by the Confederacy and one of the few Confederate warships remaining).  They also have recreations of the CSS Albemarle, part of the USS Hartford, and a scale recreation of the USS Monitor turret.  A full size replica of the USS/CSS Water Witch is on site.  Other displays include a large array of artifacts, uniforms, and the largest Civil War Naval flag collection in the country.  Entrance to the museum is free during the event to reenactors.  There is a campground on the property for authentic camping.  Wood, straw and porta potties are provided.  Address: 1002 Victory Drive, Port Columbus, Columbus, Georgia, 31901.  Check www.portcolumbus.org or www.facebook.com/photos.php?id=100000854542347 or www.knology.net/qed/forthenry.htm
 
March 19, 20, 2011.  150th Anniversary Secession Garrison at Fort Clinch.  This event will commemorate the commandeering of the fort by local militia forces shortly after Florida secedes from the Union.  Meals provided for a fee to cover the cost (aprox. $10 to $15).  Interested units and individuals, contact Lt. March 25, 26, 27, 2011.  Battle at Narcoossee Mill.  St. Cloud Fla. (southeast of Orlando - Kissimmee St. Cloud area.  Sponsored by the Jacob Summerlin Camp #1516 Sons of Confederate Veterans.  The Battlefield is on 150 acres of open and wooded land on the shore of  East Lake Tohopekaliga.  The event host will be checking coggins papers for horses at the registration desk.  A reenactor entrance fee of $3 per person will be collected at the registration desk.  A sutler fee of $25 will be charged to all sutlers.  Limited sutler electrical hook-ups are available for an additional fee.  Friday, the 25th, is education day which begins at 9:00am; re-enactors are needed to provide demonstrations.  A lunch will be provided for volunteers assisting with the school program.  There will be a ladies tea Saturday morning and military ball on Saturday night.  The park is located at 4700 Chisholm Park Trail, St. Cloud, Florida 34771.  Take Hwy 192 (Irlo Bronson Hwy) to Hwy 15.  Go 2mi North on Hwy 15, look for the park sign.  Another way to get there (from the North) is to take I-4 to the toll road 528 (Beachline Expressway) go east and get off on Hwy 15 exit (Narcoossee Road) go South on Hwy 15.  Another way if you are coming from the Florida Turnpike, get off at exit #244 and go east on Hwy 192 through St. Cloud, then turn North on Hwy 15 (Narcoossee Road).  GPS position: N28.16.448  W081.15.020  Contact the SCV Camp at http://www.jacobsummerlin.org/ or Don Williams at warthog1146@aol.com  More information, pre-registration http://www.jacobsummerlin.org/ed2007.pdf
