What follows is a listing for Civil War and living history monthly meetings.  You may use this information any way you see fit, all I ask is that you give credit to the Florida Reenactors Online News Magazine web site.  Many hours have been spent compiling and confirming this information and I believe it to be accurate.  If you do find any mistakes, correct them on the copies that you distribute and please send me a copy of the correction so I can update the listing on the web site.  If you have any additional information pertaining to upcoming meetings that I have inadvertently omitted, contact me at the email address below.

Monthly Meetings and Events
 
The Civil War Civilians Society of Florida.......is an organization providing men, women and families with the opportunity to participate in Civil War era re-enactments, living histories, demonstrations and workshops as civilians and/or medical personnel while maintaining the most accurate period representation possible.  For more information or questions please contact Rachelle Donaldson at rachelleyd@yahoo.com or by visiting the yahoo group http://groups.yahoo.com/group/cwcflorida/

Historical Sewing Society Meetings.......
On the first Saturday of each month this group meets at the Columbia Co. Historical Museum in Lake City.  They endeavor to recreate historically accurate clothing, accessories, and parlor crafts for ladies and children of the 1800's.  This is done through shared research,  guest speakers, workshops and seminars.  Each monthly meeting includes a period project or participation in a living history event and always lots of fun!  If you would like to be added to their email list for monthly meeting information or need help with a period sewing project, contact Glenda Reed historicsewing@aol.com
 
The Golden Teacup Society......The society has monthly meetings (second Sunday of each month) at Camp Milton Historic Preserve, on Jacksonville's Westside.  They meet from 2 to 4pm, and do a period activity (handcraft, sewing, impression improvements) and just fellowship.  For more information, directions or to get on their e-mail list, contact Shorty Robbins at GoldTeacup@aol.com  The Camp Milton website is located at www.campmilton.com

The Greater Orlando Civil War Roundtable.......The Orlando Roundtable meets every fourth Thursday at 730pm.  The meetings are held at the Marks Street Senior Center at 99 E. Marks St. between Orange Ave. and Magnolia St. in downtown Orlando.  GPS position: N28.33.399  W081.22.612 
 
Fort Clinch Federal and Confederate Garrisons..........Living historians recreate life at Fort Clinch during the War Between the States.  Activities may include black powder artillery demonstrations, marching drills, as well as soldiers and civilians taking up duty in the laundry, infirmary and kitchen.  Please pre-register prior to the event.  $10 per person covers entire weekend at the fort including your food on Saturday and Sunday.  GPS position: N30.41.834  W081.26.113  Contact Fred Jackobson at CSArooster@adelphia.net

Fort Taylor (Key West FL.)  Third Saturday of each month.  Union/Confederate/ Civilian Garrison.  8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.  Living historians re-create life at Fort Taylor during the early part of the War Between the States.  Activities may include black powder artillery demonstrations and marching drills, as well as soldiers and Civil War-era Key Westers civilians interacting with each other.  This is "first person" event.  All participants should be able to readily talk about events up to 1862.  All units are invited to attend.  There is no charge for reenactors for the Saturday event. Ladies Soldiers Friends Sewing Society........This sewing group meets on the second Saturday of every month.  Their goal is to research and recreate historical accurate clothing, accessories and crafts for women of the 19th Century.  They hold workshops,and participate in living history events for the public.  If you would like to be added to the email list or receive the News Letter or have any questions please contact Helga Torbert at leonlady@nettally.com

Lake County Roundtable.........Bob Grenier (President of the Historical Society of Tavares, Vice President of the Lake County Historical Society and a member of the 17th Conn. Vol. Inf.) wanted to let everyone know that a new discussion group has been formed in northwest central Florida.  The North Lake County Florida Civil War Roundtable meets the first Thursday of the month at 7:30 PM from October through May at the Tavares Civic Center, 100 E. Caroline in Tavares, Lake County, Florida.  Club newsletter, "Impressions of A Nation Divided", is available at meetings and by mail.  For more information, e-mail Bob Grenier at bobbyg22@comcast.net

Sons of Confederate Veterans Capt. Bluford M. Sims Camp #1630 Ocoee Florida meets at The Tom Ison Center at 1701 Adair St, Ocoee Florida.  They meet on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 7:00 P.M. Every one is invited to attend.  The camp is commanded by Glen Richardson (Sgt. Maj. 1st Battalion of Hardy's Brigade).  You may contact Glen at cappouch@aol.com
 
Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War.........Lucius L. Mitchell, Camp #4, Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War meets each first Saturday of odd numbered months at 1:00 pm at the St. Cloud GAR Hall, 1101 Massachusetts Ave., St. Cloud, FL.  Full memberships are open to lineal and collateral descendants of Union Veterans.  Associate memberships are available for those not related to a Union Veterans who have a keen knowledge and interest in Civil War History.  Contact the camp Commander at llmitchell@c4dofsuvcw.org for further information.

Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War...........Winfield Scott Whitehurst, Camp #1 serves the Tampa Bay area.  The SUVCW meets on the second Tuesday (October, December, February, April and June) at 2:00 PM at the home of Sec/Treas. Jim Hayward, PCC, in Brandon.  Full membership is open to lineal and collateral descendants of Union Veterans.  Associate memberships are available for those not related to a Union Veteran.  For more information contact CC Richard Hardesty at rhardest@tampabay.rr.com

Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War.........General William S. Harney Camp #8 serves Orange, Seminole and Volusia counties.  SUVCW Camp #8 meets on the first Saturday in March, June and December and the second Saturday in September.  Venue is Denny's restaurant, 198 East Semoran Blvd. Casselberry.  Gavel sounds at 11:30 AM and "Dutch Treat" luncheon is enjoyed by all.  Full membership is open to lineal and collateral descendants of Union Veterans.  Associate memberships are available for those not related to a Union Veteran.  For more information contact CC Bob Chandler at RVChandler@aol.com
