Contained within this letter of explanation, you will find information dealing with the options and costs of obtaining additional coverage and a attached sign up form. Please share this material with the members of your company.
This summary is provided for information purposes only and is not intended to supercede or amend any of the terms, conditions or provisions contained in the actual insurance policy. All general liability policies contain standard exclusions which are incorporated within each policy issued.
It has been determined that the most cost efficient policy and the one that will deliver the most coverage for our Brigade would be a “Broad Coverage” type policy.
A Broad Coverage policy covers claims brought by anyone including Brigade members. This policy will provide bodily injury and property damage legal liability insurance for the Brigade, officers and directors, and individual club members for claims arising from Brigade activities. No deductible applies.
This policy is not intended to be a medical policy as a Broad Coverage policy will pay medical claims (both members and non-members) up to only $1,000. This is why it is imperative that you keep your own personal insurance (usually supplied through your place of employment) up to date.
This policy will additionally offset the cost of medical transportation. Emergency medical transportation will be covered for each Brigade member involved in an accident during a Brigade activity, reasonable expenses up to $500 in connection with emergency medical transportation to a hospital.
Fire and legal liability coverage is also provided up to $100,000 for any one accident.
This policy is intended to protect our Brigade, Brigade officers and directors and each individual member of the Brigade in the event of a law suit related to our Brigade activities. This policy will also protect Brigade officers from law suits involving negligence that may arise from failure to properly perform their assigned duties.
The policy is designed to cover legal liability of our Brigade, Brigade officers and directors and each individual member of the Brigade from law suits and judgments involving bodily injury as well as property damage if a guest is injured during one of our Brigade activities.
This basic policy will cover legal liability law suits and judgments involving property damage as well as bodily injury.
The Voluntary Medical Insurance will cover a reasonable portion of medical claims which may be incurred as a result of injury during a Brigade activity whether or not the Brigade is legally liable.
Some features of this policy include:
Premise Liability Protection
Products/completed Operations Coverage
Personal/Advertising Injury Protection
Host Liquor Liability Protection
All Brigade functions are covered including living history events
Voluntary Property Damage Coverage (up to $250.00)
Occurrence/Aggregate limit is $100,000/$200,000
The cost for this insurance coverage based on a minimum of 200 Hardy Brigade participants will be $6 per person. Families may participate in this program at the same rate of $6 per person. The money must be collected and the premium prepaid before the policy is activated. The Hardy Brigade insurance policy can be put into effect within 24 hours of the premium being received by the insurance company. The funds are to be collected from each company within the Brigade by their company commander and promptly given (in the form of one check that will cover all members wishing to participate in the insurance policy) to our Brigade Adjutant, Bob Lovell. Remember the insurance can not be written without the premium having been prepaid. Therefore, it is imperative that the monies are collected and turned in promptly.
This insurance is offered to Hardy Brigade re-enactors and their family members only. No other persons are permitted to participate. Only those members whose names are clearly printed on the attached form will be recognized as being covered.
Gentlemen, this insurance policy is by no means a “total blanket coverage” which will address every medical or liability problem that may occur during our re-enacting season. Its coverage is limited but it is certainly better than having no coverage at all.
